Galen Tromble
Galen Tromble is Chief of the Domestic Fisheries Division for NOAA Fisheries. He is responsible for coordinating national implementation of fisheries management in U.S. waters under the Magnuson-Stevens Act, including ending overfishing and rebuilding stocks.
Galen served 6 years in the U.S. Coast Guard in Alaska before obtaining his degree in Fisheries Science from the University of Alaska, where he did graduate research on the genetics of Chinook salmon stocks. Prior to moving to headquarters in 2004, he spent 14 years in NOAA Fisheries' Alaska Region Office managing the groundfish fisheries in the Gulf of Alaska and the Bering Sea. He is NOAA's Fisheries Management Program Manager, and manages strategic planning, budgeting, and performance management for all NOAA Fisheries programs related to sustainable management of domestic and international marine fishery resources.
